Originally an 18th-19th century lead and iron mine with features including water channels, shafts and an area of hushes. Several of the original 18th-19th century buildings survive though many are in a ruined condition. There are also several added in the 20th century. It is now the largest producer of commercial fluorspar in the North Pennines. (7)
