Remains of Green Hurth 19th century lead mine (County Durham)
The remains of an early 19th century lead mine can be seen here. It stands on the southwest side of Herdship Fell on the north bank of the River Tees. The first record of any work on the site was in 1828, but most of the visible remains date to the 1860s. It was finally abandoned in 1902.
