Art on a portable stone, Barningham Moor, Teesdale (Scargill)

A complex cup and ring marked stone was found here in 1997. These carvings were probably carved in the Early Bronze Age or Late Neolithic. The purpose of these markings is not clear though they may have had a religious function. This is a Scheduled Monument protected by law (3).
