This is the site of the Manor House of West Auckland, often known as Auckland Old Hall. It stands on the north side of the green, and was built in the 16th century.

This important house (Listed Grade I), has been claimed to incorporate a pele tower. During the reign of Henry VI the manor was in the hands of the Daltons, but in the 16th century passed via the Huttons to the Edens and became their principal seat until they moved to Windlestone Hall in the 1830s.

"Old Manor House" 17/18th centuries. Alleged 12th century foundations. (24)

It is built of stone and is H-shaped in plan. It is now used as a hotel. (25)
