This building is an entrance lodge for the nearby Witton Castle. It is a Listed Building and probably dates to around 1810. Like a folly this has false battlements to give impressions of age and grandeur - unlike a folly this building would have been lived in and served a purpose in allowing only a privileged few access to the large house and estate.
