This bridge was built in 1842 by John Storey with the Shildon Works Company to carry a farm road over the Bishop Auckland and Weardale Railway. It is a lenticular girder bridge, with the a cast iron upper girder carrying the timber deck, braced by wrought-iron chains underneath
