This building is purposefully concealed by being constructed into a bank. It is a icehouse; something common in the estate grounds of larger country houses. It is a Listed Building.
A post medieval ice house is visible as an earthwork on LiDAR. The features are extant on the latest 2007 LiDAR. The ice house forms part of the designed landscape of Auckland Castle Park (H1399).
