Darlington Memorial Hospital AKA Darlington War Memorial Hospital (Darlington)

War memorial hospital by W J Moscrop, built in 1926-32. The administration block comprised four ranges of offices around a courtyard. To the east were the ward blocks, operating theatre and outpatients'. Much has now been demolished.(1)

Entrance hall of the administration building contains 11 marble plaques of around 10ft high x 5ft wide carrying the names of over 700 individuals who gave their lives in the World Wars. The panels were unveiled in 1933 by Prince George and are linked with the war memorial obelisk to the front of the building (2-5).
