The Londonderry Institute is situated in Tempest Road, which is formerly known as Tempest Place (1). It was used as a parish room by the St. John's Church Men's Room Committee in 1914. It is a handsome structure of freestone of the Grecian Doric order, and was built in 1855 at a cost of £2000. This building was placed at the disposal of the inhabitants by Charles William, third Marquess of Londonderry K. G. The building also functioned as stores during World War I (2).
