War Memorial Cottage, Lough House Bank/Mainsforth Road, Ferryhill Station (Ferryhill)
Grade II listed. War memorial cottage with polished marble plaque, officially opened 1925. Erected to commemorate those men who worked for the Mainsforth Colliery, Ferryhill Station. Plaque: rectangular grey marble, topped by curved moulded cornice. The centre contains a carved laurel wreath surrounded by the inscription: - MAINSFORTH COLLIERY AND FERRYHILL STATION, WAR MEMORIAL, 1914-1919. Below are listed the names of all those who died in three columns. Beneath is inscribed: - THEIR NAME LIVETH FOREVER.
This war memorial is securely attached to the front wall of Memorial Cottage. (2-3).
