St Cuthbert's Church, Darlington
St. Cuthbert's Church is a tall cross-shaped building, and is mostly of 13th century date. The nave has aisles and transepts, the chancel, however, has no aisles. Much of chancel was rebuilt in 1864-5 in the original style. Early 14th century piscina, 15th century Easter sepulchre, Frosterley marble font with cover of 17th century Bishop-Cosin-type wood carving. Poppy-head 16th century choir stalls with carved misericords. Late 13th century tomb figure attached to south wall. (1)
The church contains a number of features dedicated as war memorials (2-3).
