This site is a market cross. It was possibly erected in the early eighteenth century. It is made from millstone grit, with wrought-iron leg clamps, and a nineteenth or twentieth century bronze sundial on top. It has three square steps, the lowest has an iron band with four indentations and a central loop, its support column is approximately 1 m high with a chamfered base. It is a Grade II listed building, thus protected by law.
