Built in the 1830's by Major George Anderson as Folly or eyecatcher from Hawthorn Tower. The structure is in the revived Gothik style of the Georgian period. At some point the building may have been fitted out as a summer house for the Anderson estate. Later in the 19th century or possibly early 20th century the building appears to have been used as a residence.
