Church of St. Nicholas, Market Place, Durham City (Durham City)
The parish church of St Nicholas was built in 1857-8 by J.P. Pritchett. Elaborate canopied niche above contains statue of St. Nicholas, flanked by blind cross-slits. Traceried stone screens in chancel commemorate Ralph Dixon and are gift of the proprietors of Durham Waterworks in 1858.
The church contains a number of features dedicated as war memorials (1-3).
It is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law.
