Old Shire Hall, Durham - detail 2005
Old Shire Hall was built as the headquarters for the County Council in 1898, and was extended in 1905. It was then used as the administrative offices of the University but was then sold on and proposals were floated in 2012 to turn the building into luxury flats (3).

The building once contained a number of features dedicated as war memorials, though many of these have been moved to new locations (4-5).

This is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law.
