Windmill North West of College of St Cuthbert, Ushaw College, Esh (Ushaw College)
These are the remains of a 19th century windmill and neighbouring house for the millowner. It was built in 1808 to provide flour for Ushaw College residents and to supply the College Farm. It fell out of use after being badly damaged in a gale in 1853. The remaining stonework was reduced to first floor level in 1884.
