St Michael & All Angels, Witton Gilbert 2003

This is the church of St. Michael and All Angels. It was dependant on St Oswald's, Durham until it became a parish church in 1423. It is of 12th century date, but was altered about 1860. Jacobean-style carved wood pulpit on stone plinth. Norman octagonal bowl font on a Frosterley 'marble' pedestal. The church and churchyard are known to contain a number of features dedicated as war memorials (1-2).
This is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law.
