North Road Methodist House was built as a Bethel Chapel in 1853. It is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law.

The church is known to contain a number of features dedicated as war memorials (1-2).

The Chapel was built by the Methodist New Connexions Society and opened in August 1854, at a cost of £2000. In 1907 it became the United Methodist Chapel, with the amalgamation of the New Methodist Connexion, the Bible Christians and The United Methodist Free Church. (3)
