This winding engine house and boiler house stand in the The Colliery at Beamish Open Air Museum. They were built in 1855 at originally stood at Chophill Colliery. They were moved to Beamish in 1974. The engine house is the only surviving example in the County of a type once common in the Northern coalfields. They are Grade II Listed Building protected by law.
