This is the north range of Durham castle, including the chapels, the Constable's Hall and the galleries. It is now a college of Durham University. The lower chapel was built c. 1072 for William I and rebuilt in 1100 for Bishop Flambart and further rebuilt and altered in the 12th century for Bishop Le Puiset. There were further alterations in the 15th, 16th and 17th century. This is a Grade I Listed Building, thus protected by law.
