DLI South African War Memorial, Palace Green (Durham City)
This war memorial is to the soldiers of the Durham Light Infantry who died in the Second Boer War in the late 19th and early 20th century (1-2). It is designed like a Celtic cross and has carvings of scenes from the war. The inscription commemorates those who died of wounds or disease or were killed in action. This is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law.
