This is the site of the deserted medieval village of Coxhoe Village, located 170 metres south west of East House Farm, East Durham. Many earthworks can still be seen. Remains include parallel lines of tofts and crofts forming rectangular and sub-rectangular enclosures. They mark out the building platforms on which the houses were built, some with surviving stone within. Along the slopes to the west are remains of associated overgrown cultivation terraces and ridge and furrow. The features described are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs. Scheduled.

They are close to Coxhoe Hall. In 1418, the manor house and mill at Coxhoe were recorded as being in ruins (2). This may mean that the village had been deserted as early as the fourteenth century. This is a Scheduled Ancient Monument protected by law.
