Stanhope Bridge, Stanhope (Stanhope)
Stanhope Bridge was built in the early part of the 15th century and widened in 1792. The Manor of Stanhope was owned by the Bishop of Durham which may explain why such a large bridge was built in such a remote location. This is a Scheduled Ancient Monument protected by law.
Early 15th century single span bridge widened in 1797. Restored in the early 19th and 20th centuries with a date stone in the paraped giving the year 1876. Scheduled and listed. (10)
