It is L-shaped in plan and has three stories and constructed of roughly-course and roughly-squared stones. A plaque located in the hall dates the building to circa 1360, although there are no architectural features relating to this date. The building was most likely intended as a hunting lodge due to its position within Raby Park. It can be classed as a defensible building, owing to the thick walls. The building was restored circa 1894 and most of the windows and doors are of that date. (1)
