Dovecote at Pontop Hall. Dipton (Dipton)

This stone dovecote lies approximately 35m to the east of Pontop Hall (H1906). It was recorded in 1954 (1) as follows:- 'At NZ 1486 5368 there is a stone dovecote measuring 4.0m square and 5.0m high, roofless, now used as an implement shed'. The dovecote disappears from historic maps after the 1950s (2) and is said to have been partially demolished by the Coal Board for public safety reasons (3).
