Hamsterley, St. James' (Hamsterley)

Hamsterley church, which is very small is dedicated to Saint James. It is cross-shaped. The earliest part of he church is the south door of the nave, which is of Norman (11th-12th century AD) date. It was enlarged in the 13th and early 14th century century. Many grave slabs have been built into the walls of the church.
