This is probably the remains of a small medieval (1066 to 1540) castle or fortified manor house. The remains of earth and stone banks form an enclosure. The possible remains of an entrance and a gatehouse or bridge have been recorded. A knight named John Hamylton may have lived here in the mid 13th century. This site was probably built some time between 1180 and 1260 and abandoned by the 14th century. (1)

Moat of probable Medieval date still visible as slight earthworks. (19)
