Cup-marked boulder, Scale Tree Quarry, Romaldkirk Moor, Hunderthwaite (Romaldkirk)

A stone with a number of cup and ring marks has been recorded at this site. It may have been moved to the stream edge during field clearance. It probably dates to the late Neolithic or early Bronze Age. The exact purpose of such carving is unknown, though it may have had a religious purpose.
