An Anglo-Saxon cemetery was found here in 1876. At least twelve skeletons were found. Each burial had a small pot with it. Other finds include a number of brooches, tweezers, pins and a necklace. Iron swords, spearheads and parts of two shields were also found. The burials probably took place in the 5th to 7th centuries AD.
