Until 1952 the earthwork remains of the deserted medieval village of Whessoe stood here. The remains were bulldozed after having been disturbed by ploughing. Many large stones were seen during the destruction, but no pottery or carved stones were recorded. All that now remains is an earth bank in the field to the north.
