Middridge Old Towns Deserted Medieval Village, Aycliffe (Aycliffe)
This is the deserted medieval village of Middridge. The site is almost completely covered by ridge and furrow and the remains of a possible garden wall can also be seen. Trial excavations took place in 1974. Medieval pottery was found and the remains of occupation as late as the 19th century were recorded. The site is now a golf course (2).
This site was added to the Local List on 13th November 2023.
