Post medieval tramway, coal mining area and buildings (Prudhoe)

Post medieval tramway, coal mining area and buildings visible as earthworks on air photographs taken in 1946. Later photography taken in 1993 shows the buildings to be demolished but the earthworks are still extant. The tramway appears to be associated with the area of mining, the earthworks on the level top of the adjacent hill are apparently of housing, which stood until at least the beginning of the 20th century these appear on the OS map: 1:2500 (1891-1912) . The area is centred at NZ 104643. (1a-b)
