Well House Farm cist (Bywell)

In 1980 a Bronze Age cist was discovered during ploughing at Well House Farm. Inside the cist were two pottery food vessels, a jet or shale bead, and flake of flint. A radiocarbon date was obtained which suggested the burial took place between 1925 and 1425 bc. The finds were donated to the Museum of Antiquities, Newcastle.
