Bronze Age cinerary urn (Corbridge)
In the spring of 1809, as some workmen were levelling a piece of ground on an allotment of Aydon Common, belonging to Mr John Bulman, of Newcastle, they found an urn with its mouth downwards, having a smaller on within it, with the mouth also downwards, and which contained a quantity of small bones; but they all went to pieces on being removed. Area centred NZ 01536686. Sited to the area indicated by Craster (2). The name Aydon Common is not locally known. (3)
