Shotleyfield Mill (Shotley Low Quarter)
Shotley Field Mill, corn mill. Completely ruinous. An overhead leat serves a pitchback wheel, 20ft OD, 3ft to 6ft wide. Cast iron hubs and shaft, cast iron rim. Wood buckets, wood spokes. Tail race in tunnel. Pit wheel, etc, unsafe to examine. Two pairs of stones on hurst and sack hoist, kiln drive etc, from missing crown wheel. Roasting kiln in outhouse. Pearl barley machine under hurst. Important arrangement like Linnels Mill (NY 96 SE 65). Hurst at half level. 19th century. Machinery and fittings: two pairs of stones; roasting kiln for oatmeal. The building is ruined beyond redemption. (1)

Corn mill on the Small Burn and Shotleyfield Burn. It was in use until about 1934 and, although very derelict, is practically complete. Described as a 'picturesque and ancient corn mill upon the banks of the Shotley burn' in the County History. In 1765, the mill belonged to John Hopper of Black Hedley, whose grandson sold it in 1816 to Edward Hall Campbell. It eventually came to form part of the estate of Shotley Hall. (3)
Shotleyfield Mill, NZ 062 531. On a stream which flows into the River Derwent. Site includes a rotary kiln. In a derelict condition [in 1964-65]. Gear in position, but floors collapsed. Recorded by Griffin. (4)
