Bridge. 1763 by John Smeaton. Ashlar. Five broad segmental arches with arch bands and triple keystones. Battered semi-octagonal cutwaters. In the spandrels large keyed oculi with dark flint infilling. Dentil cornice. Parapet with shallow pilasters on both faces and slightly arched coping. Lower round-headed flood arch at each end. At the English end approach walls with flat coping, band and round end piers with domed caps. (1)
