Groat Haugh pit alignment cropmark (Norham)

NT 891454. Groat Haugh - pit alignment - cropmark. (1)(2)

Other features lie to the east, west and south and include unenclosed round-houses of prehistoric type, ring ditches and further pit alignments. Transcribed by RCHME. (3)

Surveyed during RCHME Roman Camps in England Project, 1988. 1:2500 transcription shows one of the pit alignements to be partly contiguous with the S ditch of Norham Roman Camp (NT 84 NE 6); its crop indications are stronger, but by analogy with elsewhere they are not likely to be associated. Full information is included in the NMR Archive. (4a)

General association with HER 924 (Roman temporary camp), HER 34412 (cropmark complex). (4)
