Round barrow at Cheviot Farm, Hallington (Whittington)
(NY 98217637) Tumulus. (1)
On the farm of Cheviot at Hallington, is an unexplored barrow in a small clump of trees. (2)
A tree planted mound enclosed by a modern stone wall. Mr Martin of Cheviot Farm, encountered a large slab of stone whilst digging into the mound in the 1930s. There appeared to be nothing immediately under the slab, however, and he dug no deeper. Surveyed at 1/2500. (3)
Condition unchanged. The mound is 1m high, turf covered, with a few large stones (not identifiable as parts of a cist) visible. A probable burial barrow of cairn. (4)
