Prehistoric Pot (Chollerton)

(Marginal) Food vessel found at Colwell in 1856. In Black Gate Museum. It contained a limestone ball ..?...1/4ins diameter. (1)

The Food Vessel is of Type I (Grooved shoulder with stops and 3-1/2ins high). The only example of the type from northern England. (2)

Bowl containing small round stone found at Colwell. Bowl has cavetto zone at shoulder and one perforated handle. Measures 102mm high, 140mm rim diameter, 64mm base diameter. Three zones of decoration with incised and stamped chevrons. In Museum of Antiquities, Newcastle upon Tyne (1856.27). (4)
