A 17th century inn, extended in 18th century. The central portion is the oldest part of the building and inside there are several ancient features, including beams, rafters and the balustrade of the attic staircase. Each side of the centre block are later wings. Above the door is a sundial with the inscription E W A, 1726, for Edward and Anne Winship, and a stone with the emblems of the Incorporated Company of Masons of Newcastle. It was previously called the Head Inn and is the oldest inn in Corbridge. From 1852 to the opening of the railway the Angel was the posting inn for Corbridge. This is a Grade II Listed Building protected by law.
