Possible Roman site beneath Hexham Abbey (Hexham)
The site of Hexham Abbey is claimed to stand on an early Roman frontier, that pre-dates Hadrian's Wall. The possible ditches of a Roman fort have been identified from dowsing on land to the south and west of the abbey.
