Roman altar (Humshaugh)
A Roman altar was discovered in the west bank of the River North Tyne in 1978. It was inscribed with the words: DISCIPVLINAE IMP(ERATORIS) HAD(RIANI) AVG(GUSTI) ALA AVG(VSTA) OB VIRT(VTE) APPEL(LATA). This is a dedication to the Discipline of the Emperor Hadrian. The altar is on display in Chesters Museum.
