Mindrum Roman Temporary Camp (Carham)

Cropmarks of linear ditches, quarries?, and rectilinear enclosures. (1)

Published references. (2)(3)

Air photography by Tim Gates in 1994 revealed the cropmarks of part of the perimeter of a camp, centred to NT 4133311, on low ground to the NW side of the Bowmont Water, at 85m above OD. The cropmarks define four sides of an irregular polygon measuring about 500m from NE to SW by at least 240m transversely. One gate, defended by a traverse, is identifiable in the centre of the short N side. (4a-b)
