The ruins of Riddlehamhope Hall used to stand at the head of the Beldon Burn. Before it went out of use it seems to have been a Victorian hunting lodge. At the west end of the house was a series of outbuildings and at the western end of these were the ruins of an older building. It measured 11.9m long by 6.9m wide and was built of rough stone with walls over one metre thick. The north wall stood 1.5m high and had a narrow opening, or slit vent, through it. These features point to it having been a bastle, probably built in the late 16th or early 17th centuries. The building was demolished in 2018.
