Cairn on Todlaw Pike (Otterburn)
NY 89979585 Prominently situated on a gentle south facing slope is a stony mound about 1.2m maximum height and 10m diameter, mutilated by robbing. Several large earthfast stones around the periphery may be the remains of a kerb.
Its nearness to the field system (NY 99 NW 10) suggests that it could be no more than a large clearance heap but as it falls just outside the system and is much larger, well formed and is of a different character to the clearance heaps, it seems likely to be a burial cairn.
Surveyed at 1:2500. (1)
Scheduled. (2)
Surveyed at 1:1000 as part of wider survey of Todlaw Pike cairnfield. (3)
Cairn visible on lidar imagery. But this is only one of many (see HER 9623). (4)
General association with HER 9623 and HER 9625. (5)
