Ealingham shrunken settlement (Bellingham)
There is documentary evidence for a settlement at Ealingham from the 14th century when the manor was known as 'le Lee'. The abbots of Jedburgh were the lords of the manor until 14th century, at which time it passed into the ownership of someone called Philippa of England. In the 18th century there were two farmsteads, East and West Ealingham, and it is the remains of these which probably survive as earthworks near the present farmhouse.
