Bell Knowe round cairn (Corsenside)

[NY 88648561] Tumulus [LB] Bell Knowe [NAT]. (1)

A grass covered mound of earth and stones 14m diameter, 1.5m high, with a large hollow, probably the result of excavation, in the centre. No trace of ditch or retaining circle. (2)

The mound is situated on the summit of a hill and may well be a tumulus. Published survey (25 inch) revised. (3)

Earth and stone mound, 16m diameter (north-south) x 15m diameter (east-west) ,1.4m high. Hollow in centre measures 5.1m diameter (north-south) by 5.3m (east-west), by 0.85m deep. No kerbstones visible, or any trace of an encircling ditch. (4)

NY 8864 8560. Bell Knowe round cairn, 200m NE of The Cragg. Scheduled RSM No 25034. The stone and earth cairn is 16m in diameter and up to 1.4m high. A hollow 5m in diameter and 0.85m deep at its centre is the result of partial 19th century excavation. (5)

Bell Knowe Bronze Age round cairn. Clearly visible on lidar imagery as large mound with central hollow. (6)
