Round cairn, 670m NNE of Middle House (Newbrough and Fourstones)

[NY 84897025'A': NY 84857018'B': NY 84877018'C'] Tumuli [OE]. (1)

Surveyed at 1/2500. 'A' An earth and stone ditchless mound, 13m in diameter and 0.5m high; its flattened crown suggests that it may have been excavated. 'B' NY 84847019 Low earthen mound 7m diameter 0.2m high hollowed out in the centre and mutilated on the north-west side.
'C' NY 84857018 Low vague earthen mound approximately 9m diameter and 0.3m maximum height. In their present state mounds B and C cannot certainly be identified as barrows. (2)

Scheduled. (3)

It is suggested that the cairn may be a stack stand of post-medieval date. It stands on the edge of a large expanse of broad ridge and furrow cultivation. (4)

General association with HER 32061 (stack stand). (5)
