Border Counties Railway (Chollerton)
Wark was a staff station from the start (and later a block post) and was the working terminus when the line was opened to Countess Park. It had the usual short platform and substantial house with a small goods shed and control was by ground frame. The final track plan included a signal box of the standard counties pattern, which was placed 190 yards north of the station and built into the side of the embankment. Plus a formation loop in excess of 300m and capable of taking the longest permitted goods trains of the day. (1)(2)(3)
