An uninscribed Roman altar, 35 inches by 16 inches, its face worn smooth but showing a patera on the right side and a praefericulum (sacrificial dish) on the left, has been found at Wark. (1)

It was presented to the Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle by John Fenwick Esq., prior to 1887, and for a long time had been used as a step in the stile at the foot of Moot Hill. (Moat Hill, NY 866770 - see OS 6 inch 1920-46). (2)

Now in the Department of Ethnology, Kings College, Newcastle. (3)

There is a stile at NY 86087675 which may be the one in question. No further information. (4)
